    Hi MARC,

I'm reaching out to our dedicated HAMS, FRS, and GMRS radio operators for an exciting opportunity to support the upcoming Kingman First Friday Downtown Events!

We're looking for volunteers to act as our "Eyes and Ears" and assist with barricade control during these popular community gatherings. Your reliable communication and presence will be invaluable in ensuring the safety and smooth flow of the events for attendees and participants alike.

    What we need from you:

    • Eyes and Ears: Be our eyes on the ground, observing the crowds and reporting any unusual activity or potential issues to event organizers.
    • Barricade Control: Assist in maintaining barricade integrity, guiding pedestrian and vehicular traffic as directed, and ensuring public safety.
    • Communication: Use your FRS/GMRS radios to maintain clear, timely communication with the event coordination team.

We're incredibly grateful for your willingness to volunteer your time and expertise to make these events a success.

The Kingman Chamber of Commerce will provide vests and instructions. Please come appropriately prepared for the weather, and bring water, your HT, and a flashlight if you plan to be there after dark. We will be operating on FRS/GMRS Channel 7, so anyone with an appropriate radio can participate, and no license is needed under FRS power limits.

For those who can lend a hand, please sign up for your preferred shifts using the link below. This system helps us keep the team organized and ensures we have adequate coverage throughout the evening.

Thank you in advance for your commitment and support! Your contributions are vital to our community.

    Best regards,

    Scott Henry

    Howdy everyone!
Sorry I have missed out on so much. Was barely hanging in for awhile. Spent most of the holidays in bed whenever I could.
Details aside, I really am feeling better and recovering slowly. Recovering from whatever knocked me down and should be wrapping up my commission in Las Vegas in the next month or two, I am hoping to be around more often and more involved. Thanks to everyone who showed any concern and support, you know who you are! Even a warm welcome on the air helps me feel better.

Remember, there is nothing more important than your health. Without it, nothing else...

This is me last weekend, finally up on my feet and outside. Even though I don't look all smiley and happy, I am feeling like a human being for the first time in months. Take care! GB.

I must apologize for not being to active this week… NABR had a hr plus meeting with the county on Thursday which didnt allow me to check-in on the net…

There was a lot of talk about how NABR and associates will/could fit into an emergency event that could happen in the future. For those of us with NABR, positions, locations were explained as were objective needed for such incident that was in the scenario presented. As the president of NABR, one of my jobs is to setup exercises and scenarios that advance the training for a time of need. I will be setting up another exercise in the near future. The coming exercise will be solely radio communications, no internet, no phone service, the only form of communication is radio… There are a lot of holes and pockets in the area that cell phone service isn’t possible… The reason for such an exercise is to test equipment and find shortcomings in our communications setup… As always and with any of our exercises, the most important thing is to learn, and to have fun doing it. After the exercise we have what is called a hot wash, basically a debriefing, and to go over any strengths and weaknesses we may have as a team.

Anyone can be a part of these exercises. Because of the way official channels work in event, not if but when NABR is needed, any volunteers will have to be under the guidance and instruction of NABR. This is something we can’t get away from. The reason for that is because of requirements that are necessary on the local all the way up to the federal level that allow us to be part of an incident.

Anyone who is interested in learning more about anything that we have coming up, feel free to contact me at
    [email protected]

Thanks for reading longer post all the way thru
