Shortly after Thursday's NET, we successfully completed some much-needed maintenance on our repeater setup. For the past few months, we've been experiencing disruptions to our live stream, file uploads, and configuration changes due to issues with our internet modem failing.
To address this, we've upgraded to an industrial-grade modem from Ubiquiti. This new modem provides a stable, remotely managed connection and a secure VPN, allowing operators to easily make configuration changes without needing a phone line. While our shack doesn't typically get too hot, this robust modem can withstand temperatures up to 160°F.
We're still planning future upgrades, including a DC power upgrade and a controller upgrade. Rest assured, we'll give members advanced notice before installing any equipment that will disable the repeater for an extended period.
